GCI is deeply committed to developing strong relationships with its customers in order to offer the best possible solutions. Research and development, production technology, and sales work together as a team. This means that no matter what problem or demand arises, whether in product design or mass production, our expert sales staff is able to quickly grasp a customer’s requirements and share that information with the rest of the team. This approach enables us to customize each product to meet a specific customer’s needs. If needed, improvements can be swiftly implemented to optimize products even as they reach the production line, making it possible for us to offer the right solution in a timely manner.
Due to its unique properties, Resitop, a chemical product manufactured by GCI, is widely used not only in molding, but for binders, additives, electronic industry materials, building and construction materials, and the cutting-edge materials used in space development. Today, Resitop has become an essential material in almost all areas of industry. As a leading manufacturer of materials in Japan, GCI strives to improve the quality of Resitop while fully exploring its potential, actively searching for original, creative applications in new fields of industry.
Isomerization—the process of converting starch first into glucose, then fructose—takes place in our fully-automated plants. Although glycation is commonly accomplished after starches are extracted from each type of grain, GCI has invented a technology for direct glycation, which requires no extraction process. The various glucoses produced through this process are highly moisture-retaining and less sweet, allowing the natural taste to come through. It is this type of technology and original thinking that allows GCI to meet our clients’ diverse requirements, and these materials are now indispensable in the manufacture of a wide range of products, from beverages, to snacks, to processed foods.
As a unique chemical company, GCI’s ability to survive global competition relies on building solid research and development capabilities and conveying a clear message to society. For example, enzyme technologies we have accrued since our founding are used to create completely new functional food products, benefitting individual health and health care in general. We are also dedicated to the achievement of a recycling society through the development of environmentally-friendly industrial materials produced from natural materials like sugar. Our efforts extend to offering solutions to energy-related issues, taking full advantage of our cutting-edge technology in carbon nanofibers and other areas. Our goal is to open pathways to new fields of business through R&D, always with an eye towards a more abundant future.
We utilize our integrated network to provide all customers with a consistent supply of high-quality products, with plants in Japan (Gunma, Shiga, Iwate), Rayong, Thailand, and Chennai, India. We also have an extended network of sales offices in Takasaki, Tokyo, and Osaka as well as in Hamburg, Germany, and Illinois, U.S.A. in order to satisfy the increasing needs of both domestic and overseas customers. This network allows us to be competitive in a global market.
GCI seeks to continually improve all aspects of our quality management systems, adhering to ISO 9000 standards in all of our plants, and with business ethics solidly based upon customer satisfaction. Resitop is manufactured in plants where the latest computing systems have been introduced under strict quality control. Plants that manufacture sugar/starch products have also passed food handling standards(acquisition FSSC22000(Scope of Certification:Manufacturing of Glucose & Starch Products)), underlining our commitment to safety and hygiene management under the strict supervision of a central control room where all information on products is gathered. Our clients appreciate our approach to quality management because it reflects our dedication to the creation of the best possible products.
In addition to our acquisition of ISO14001 certification in 1999, the efforts of our in-house environmental management committee have made our plants more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. For example, establishment of an energy-saving system for collecting and recycling heat emitted inside our plants has reduced our energy consumption by the equivalent of 750 kiloliters of crude oil per year. Also, GCI as a whole works to protect the environment, reducing the amount of waste water released from its plants or finding ways to reuse it, and covering our plant facilities in safely designed buildings designed to minimize their impact on the surrounding environment.
